Alyeska Resort: Alyeska lies about 40 miles south of Anchorage in Girdwood, a town nestled in the Chugach Range. Even though it is the largest ski resort in the state, providing more than 1,400 skiable acres of terrain, Alyeska is not a mountain for beginners. Served by six lifts and one high-speed tram, the terrain is mostly marked advanced or expert only, which is unusual for a large North American resort. Considering this and the fact that the mountain receives more than 650 inches of snow a year (holy smokes!), Alyeska is a prime place for those who like it steep and deep. Even the most advanced skiers will find challenges here. Check out GetSkiTickets.com for deals on lift tickets to Alyeska!
