Arapahoe Basin, Colorado is Open for the 2019 / 2020 Season! Queue the Celebration.

by Greg Colquitt | October 11, 2019

As of Friday, October 11 at 3:30 p.m., The Legend is OPEN for skiing and snowboarding.

 Let the party begin.

The Black Mountain Express lift will turn today (October 11) from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. for the High Noon intermediate run

Arapahoe Basin is the life of the party in Colorado and we want to get you there.

With freezing temperatures ideal for blowing snow and a few gifts from the snow gods above, ‘The Legend’ is finally open. Here’s the deets on skiing one of our favorite Colorado resorts, and of course, we’ll show you how to get deals on Arapahoe Basin lift tickets too.

A Culture Like No Other

Here, there are no expectations. No one will tell you how to act, how to ski, or how you should dress. It’s a “what you see is what you get” kind of place where grilling in the parking lot and eyeing lines off the Pali chair, the old school two-person chair that accesses some of the best terrain the mountain has, is always en vogue. Come for the powder, the terrain, the low-brow feel, but stay for the party and maybe a bloody Mary with a slice of bacon in it at the 6th Alley when you’re done. But the culture is only half the battle; without the terrain, nobody would have showed up in the first place.

Legendary Terrain, Copious Snow

So there you are in the parking lot looking up at a few chairs and a treeless rocky spine towering over to your left. Where do you go? If you want to get your heart rate up and reach breathtaking views along the Continental Divide, warm up your legs and start hiking up the daunting East Wall. Maybe you want to relax into your run and find a nice rhythm or teach someone how to ski–head up Black Mountain Express on the front side and then ski left to hit any number of blue and green runs. And last, if you’re ready for some real butt-clenching steeps, hit the Pallavicini (Palli) lift on the front or head to brand new terrain in The Beavers. Disclaimer: Not all of the terrain will be accessible at the time of opening.

Make It Happen

A-Basin is an endless playground of terrain from relaxed to pretty stressful at times, but best of all nobody’s going to call you out for not having the right gear (except for you, Derrick. You change that sh** right now). One of the best seasons yet is around the corner. Make it happen.
