Arapahoe Basin Opens TOMORROW

by Kirsten Dobroth | October 20, 2016

It’s official- Colorado’s Arapahoe Basin opens tomorrow, and officially kicks off the 2016/17 ski season. This year marks the 70th that “The Legend” will be in operation, and this Friday the resort will get things started by running its Black Mountain Express Lift. Check out the on mountain cameras for an idea of current conditions.

If you don’t find yourself in Colorado to enjoy a lap on the ribbon of death at Arapahoe Basin, don’t worry, there is plenty more snow expected around the country, with several resorts already seeing a significant start to the season before the lifts start spinning. Jackson Hole is having its snowiest October in 16 years, with other mountainous areas- notably Whistler and the Pacific Northwest- getting pummeled by snow over the last month, as well. After a long, dry winter last season, New Englanders will rejoice to hear that flakes will be falling at higher elevations throughout the weekend. It’s official- winter is here!
