Snowmass Mountain in Aspen to Celebrate 50 Years with $6.50 Lift Tickets

by Greg Colquitt | October 27, 2017

Christmas is coming early to Colorado this year.

Aspen locals milling around the Maroon Bells Wildnerness in search of $6.50 lift tickets

The iconic Colorado ski resort in Aspen, Snowmass Mountain, is opening its lifts for the same price it did 50 years ago. And no, you don’t need to factor inflation into the equation. The price really is $6.50 in 2017 dollars.
On December 15th, Snowmass mountain is selling lift tickets for next to nothing and they’re throwing a party–like throwing it the heck back to 1967 when the living was easy, the Beatles had just debuted “Christmas Time is Here Again” on the radio, and Joe Garagiola improved the “Today” show with his presence for the first time. December 15th was, and will be, a good day.

This, friends and neighbors, is a good deal.

If you haven’t had the chance or couldn’t afford (most likely) the chance to ski at Aspen, here’s your golden egg opportunity. The mountain itself is, well, legendary. You’ll get views of the neighboring Maroon Bells (very important) and the greater Roaring Fork Valley, varied terrain for all peoples, and if all goes well, maybe even some powder for the fun of it. At night there will be a retro party at Elk camp and then an obligatory firework show over Fanny Hill.

Finding powder at Aspen Snowmass

While you won’t find them on our website, you can buy your $6.50 lift ticket at Snowmass Mountain on December, 15th, 2017. Lodging and lift ticket packages featuring the $6.50 lift ticket will continue to be offered through Stay Aspen Snowmass.  Oh…and don’t forget to get lodging deals for Aspen and Snowmass.

So while you wait, prepare for powder face shots!

  • Put ice in blender without lid
  • Position face over opening
  • Turn on full blast
  • Let ice spray hit you in the face
  • Leave ice shards be until they melt and drip into your clothes

You’re ready for winter! Happy dreaming!
