Breckenridge Just Claimed a World Record

The town of Breckenridge, Colorado, is once again in the history books, but probably not for the reason that you think. Breckenridge just claimed a world record for the world’s longest shot ski, reclaiming the title from Park City with a 1,997 foot long shot ski that was manned by 1,234 drinkers. Participants shot of choice? Hot Box Mountain Shot, a cinnamon whiskey rivaling Fireball without some of the more, well, for lack of a better word, anti-freeze components. The world record-breaking shot ski was built with 420 individual skis (oh, Colorado and your witty marijuana allusions), and was all part of the fun for the ski town’s annual festival to Ullr, the Norse god of snow. Ullr’s been good to Breck this year; the resort has received 176 inches of snow, with a base depth of 57 inches, with all lifts spinning and all but one run open to the public. More snow is expected through the weekend and into the early next week.
It might seem like getting a world-breaking amount of individuals – and skis and shot glasses – together for the feat of setting a world record would be simple, but coordinating such an undertaking (and getting everyone to drink at the same time) takes more time and coordination than you might think.
