Early Season Snow Hits The High Country
The high country around the western United States has already seen some early season snow, as anyone who got stuck on I-70 near the Eisenhower Tunnel in Colorado yesterday knows all too well, and local ski resorts are firing up the snow guns to take advantage of the chilly temperatures and falling flakes.
Colorado’s Arapahoe Basin and Loveland Ski Area, always the first of the state’s resorts to open and some of the last to close, have started blowing snow in an effort to get the ski season underway. While sunny skies are in today’s forecast, it looks like the snowmaking crew as been doing some work in an effort to cover up the green.
Early season snow is in the forecast later this week, as temperatures are supposed to drop again and bring more flurries during the day tomorrow with overnight lows throughout the week that are conducive to snowmaking operations; here’s to hoping for another late October opening for the winter season, and if you just can’t wait to take some turns, check out this video from Jackson Hole, where locals have already been taking advantage of early season snowfall.
