Cold temperatures finally arrived in the Northeast Monday night, allowing snowmaking to resume at many resorts, including Killington, Sunday River, Maine and Mount Snow, Vermont. According to Open Snow, the forecast for the Northeast is calling for much colder temperatures Friday and into the Saturday, so resorts should see optimal snowmaking conditions through the weekend, especially resorts in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.
Mount Snow and Okemo, Vermont plans to open Saturday, while Sunday River anticipates opening by this weekend, according to their Facebook page. Bretton Woods, New Hampshire is scheduled to open on Monday, Nov. 13.
Killington also unleashed an enormous amount of snowmaking firepower – 100-plus snowguns – on its Superstar Trail in preparation for the Audi FIS Ski World Cup women’s giant slalom and slalom events scheduled for November 25-26.
