There was something magical about the C-note ($100 bill) in the ski industry. By magical, I mean that it would have bought you a lift ticket at any ski resort in North America. That is no longer the case.

For the first time in resort-industry history lift ticket prices will exceed $100 at Vail, Beaver Creek, and Breckenridge. Both the Vail and Beaver Creek resorts will charge $108 for a walk-up lift ticket purchase during the week after Christmas. Breckenridge, however, is not far behind as it will charge $104 during the same period. The Aspen and Telluride ski resorts are charging $99 and $98 respectively during the post-Christmas week this year.

With a little bit of planning, one can avoid these steep prices by buying lift tickets online.
