5. Revelstoke – British Columbia, Canada

5,620 Vertical Feet (most continuous lift served vertical in The New World)

Revelstoke has 3,121 skiable acres from bowls, glades, endless groomers along with night skiing. I’ve written about Revelstoke before about their annual snowfall and just how much they get! It’s a great place for intermediate and advanced skiers, with so much to offer.

4. Blackcomb – British Columbia, Canada

5,133 Vertical Feet (resort claims 5,280 so they can say “a vertical mile”) There is literally no bad time to go to Blackcomb, Winter or Summer. There are generally lifts running year round, I can tell you first hand. Blackcomb is MASSIVE. There are 39 total lifts, 5 gondolas, 13 high-speed quad chairlifts, 5 chairlifts & 16 surface lifts. Absolutely massive! Make your way to Whistler and take advantage of their longest runs Burnt Stew (Whistler), Green Road (Blackcomb) – Both are 11 km (6.8 mi)

3. Telluride – Colorado, USA

4,425 Vertical Feet Telluride is a hidden gem, it doesn’t get as much foot traffic as your larger (Vail Resorts) mountains. You won’t find long lift lines for the 127 trails that Telluride offers. The longest is Galloping Goose, 4.6 miles long (7.4km). Telluride is known for it insane amount of snow as well, you can hit your ‘face-shots’ quota in one day with their 309 annual inches of snowfall.

2. Snowmass – Colorado, USA

4,406 Vertical Feet (includes hiking or infrequently running rope tow, 3,723 w/o hiking/tow) Snowmass isn’t just for the fur-wearing, private-jet owners. Aspen/Snowmass has hosted the Winter X Games for the last decade. It’s an awesome town with great food & après skiing. Snowmass’ elevation tops out at 12,510 ft with 4,406 vertical feet. Longest run is 5.3 miles (8.5km) long with 3,362 skiable acres.

1. Big Sky – Montana, USA

4,350 Vertical Feet (3,650 vertical feet is skiable in one long run from top of Lone Peak Tram) Big Sky. If you have a pulse, you should know that Big Sky is a skiing Mecca. You couldn’t ski the whole mountain if you had 24 hours and no lift lines, it has nearly twice as many skiable acres as the next resort, clocking in at 5,800 acres. Big Sky’s longest run in an incredible 6 miles long, something that you would usually have to heli-drop to find. Absolutely huge resort. 250+ runs, 6,800 base elevation, 30 lifts and ONLY 10% man-made snow.
