RED Mountain is the last great, unspoiled resort. Located in Rossland, BC, along the famous "Powder Highway," RED delivers 4,200 acres of pristine skiing unfettered by over-development. For 2013-14, we've added nearly 1,000 acres of mostly-intermediate terrain on Grey Mountain, an entirely new peak. (Well, OK, Grey's been there for millions of years, but without runs or lifts on it.) With 300"/7.6m of annual snowfall, wide-open groomed runs, epic vertical (2,919ft/890m!), in-bounds cat-skiing, 360 degree descents off select peaks, a rich tradition, and the best tree runs in BC, it's no wonder The NY Times voted us their #8 "Best Place in the World to Visit in 2013." RED's other recent accolades include #1 in Powder's "Ski Town Throwdown," and "Most Underrated Resort" by Skiing. Come and enjoy fresh turns that you don't have to fight for and find out what none of the fuss is about… RED boasts modern ski in/out lodging, fine dining, shopping, a professional ski school, guiding, high performance equipment rentals, day care and free shuttle to Rossland. Other activities include snowshoeing, ice skating, cross-county skiing, movie nights and apres ski partying in Rafters Bar, ranked as North America’s Best Ski Area Bar by Powder Magazine. All this is seasoned with an authentic winter enthusiast vibe, friendly locals and the turn-of-the-century charm of the city of Rossland, located minutes away, offering a selection of pubs, restaurants, cafes, spas and shopping. RED in Rossland is located 8 km north of the US/Canada border in the heart of the West Kootenay region of British Columbia. Rossland is a 2.5 hour drive from the Spokane, WA International Airport, or 3.5 hours drive from Kelowna, BC International Airport. Daily regional flights are available with Air Canada from Vancouver and Calgary to Castlegar’s West Kootenay Regional Airport (35 minutes from Red) and with Pacific Coastal Airlines from Vancouver’s YVR South Terminal to Trail Airport (20 minutes from Red). Spring Skiing in February
Spent a family Valentine’s weekend at Red Mountain. Great hill with lots of terrain, but sad that there was spring ski conditions in February. Need lots more snow if they are going to stay open very long. Give yourself at least one hour to get through border patrol!!
Great cat skiing
Cat skiing on grey mt for $10. Can’t Beat it. Also try big red cats. Great terrain and well run. Can get 13-15000 vertical. Red shutter inn though homey has very thin walls
Surprised by quality of terrain
The skiing was amazing on our trip. Couldn’t have had a better time. I highly suggest checking out apres ski partying in Rafters Bar while here its quite the time!
Undiscovered Resort Close to the US / Canadian Border
